Suzuki Violin Lessons at Preston Music Studio

I welcome new students and families. At my studio, learning to play violin is a family experience involving at least one parent. Also, students and families often develop bonds outside of music lessons. It's a Suzuki community.

What's Involved

  • All children receive private lessons weekly (schedule for young beginners may vary). Private lessons are taught Mon.-Fri.

  • In addition, all children attend group lessons with other students twice monthly. Group lessons are on Saturday mornings.

  • Beginners start as young as 4 years of age.

  • One parent is designated to attend lessons and "coach" daily practice at home. It's a rewarding commitment for a parent--quite different from traditional lessons. This parent attends lessons, keep notes, learns to play a bit herself/himself, and acts as the teacher during home practice time. Don't worry! You don't need to be a musician. Some of the best "Suzuki" parents start with very little knowledge of music.

  • Students perform in two recitals each year and perform solos regularly for each other.

  • Please wait to obtain an instrument. They come in various sizes and I'll help you with this.

Students have group lessons twice each month, along with their weekly private lessons. At group lessons we learn to to perform as a group, play learning games, perform for each other, and have a great social experience.

To Inquire or Enroll

You are invited to observe some private and group lessons with your child as part of your decision-making process. Tuition is $25/30-minute lesson and $16/group lesson (all students are enrolled in both). For complete information, please contact: info@PrestonMusicStudio.net

Please read Nurtured by Love by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki (about 90 pages) to understand the philosophy behind the method.
